Question by Judy37601: What else could be incorrect that has the same symptoms as a yeast infection?
I’ve had yeast infection a few times (like most girls). So when the identical symptoms began once again, I figured that is what it was & I went & got that Monistat 1 day remedy. It’s been a week & I’m still not better. I don’t have insurance to go see a physician. It’s not as negative as it was, but it nonetheless itches & is really sore. It hurts to pee. I’ve heard people say that they thought they had a yeast infection, but discovered out it was actually a thing else. I’m questioning what that “something else” could be. What are the possibilities? Smthng that is just like a yeast infection, but is not. This is a significant question, so only critical answers, please.

It could be a STD. I would go get that checked ASAP.

bacterial vaginosis. it can get better and worse but it wont go away till you get on antibiotics. i also have no insurence. but look up free clinics they will charge you 20$ for the visit and the prescription will be around 20$ proll less. but dont let it go on cuz bacteria will continue to grow and worsen. wich will lead to worse problems left untreated. good luck
Is there any discharge changes? That could be key. A fishy smell often indicates BV (Bacterial Vaginitis). It can be treated with antibiotics. It’s also just possible that it IS a yeast infection, and the Monistat didn’t do the trick. Or it could be a UTI, urinary tract infection (also antibiotics). A urine screen can test for that pretty quickly. The problem, as you see, is that this all requires antibiotics, which requires a doctor.
You should definitely try to go to a free clinic in your town because it sounds like it could be more severe. It may be an std. std’s not only cause resemblances to something a s minor as a yeast infection but can also cause pain. It may be Chlamydia. This could cause permanent damage if not checked out soon. You basically take an antibiotic to get rid of it. But get checked out before it get’s worse
sometimes the yeast infection is systemic and you’ll need diflucan or another oral antifungal
for lack of insurance, if you don’t have access to a reasonable priced walk-in clinic, try getting some betadine douche and some more monistat (2 weeks worth) and use the douche in the evening before every 3rd or 4th use of the monistat
if this does not help, please get yourself to a doctor, you never know how serious it is and should not risk spreading of the infection further in your system or ignoring possible STD, BV, or PID
It could be a bacterial infection that needs antibiotics. It could also still be a yeast infection you might need to do a longer treatment.
If it hurts to pee you probably have a UTI too. Three 500mg Floxin will clear that up. One a day. See if anyone you know has some floxin on hand. That stuff is magic!! Monostat has that new test out to find out what type of disease/disorder you have down there, wonder what it tests for.
Look for some free or low cost medical care. Most Catholic hospitals have tons of programs. Or if you live by a medical school they will actually pay you if your symptoms are something they want to teach to the class. It could be bacterial which would mean you’d need antibotics. Call Planned Parenthood and see if they offer medical services and if they don’t do they know who does.

usually yeast infection affects rectum, vagina and vulval skin at the same time, so if u are using only vaginal preparation, reinfection from skin or rectum can occur, its better to use anti fungal skin cream with vaginal cream/tablets.Cannestin cream is available over the counter you can use it. In the mean while get ur blood sugar checked. Are you pregnant,or taking contraceptive pills.or have taken antibiotics for aweek or so. if one of these causes is there ,treat it.dont take any anti biotic till you are sure that its not yeast infection because antibiotics make yeast infection worst. pain during peeing is due to sore skin due to scratching,
if another dose of antifungal doesnt work then you can take oral antifungal.stat dose.will eliminate fungus from gut, skin and vagina, so no reinfection
you can use petroleum jelly on ur bruised skin to relieve pain during peeing. or silicon creams.Hope you get well soon
this could be a yeast infection that actually needs antibotics such as diflucan. Sometimes Monistat doesn’t always work and you need something stronger. Also try eating a lot of yogurt, your body is producing too much yeast and eating the yogurt helps because of the active cultures. Eating yogurt everyday helps fight the infections. Also if you are having unprotected sex, the man you are with also needs to rub on the Monistat, i know this sounds wierd, because men cant get yeast infections but they are carriers of it. I suggest that if you don’t have insurance go to a planned parenthood or a clinic that has a “sliding” scale fee and get the diflucan. good luck!
It could be a bacterial infection – except usually there tends to be more odor and discharge with bacterial. Usually there isn’t as much itching with bacterial, but who knows – it could just be acting that way. Taking yogurt with acidophiles (good bacteria) would help some. I’ve heard you can use plain yogurt in place of medicine (although it would be messy) and it can help symptoms too. I don’t know if it’s a cure though. Hydrocortisone cream would also help the itching.
Best thing to do is go to your Ob/Gyn and get an exam. He/She will know what it is exactly and be able to treat it to make it go away. It’s miserable – that’s for sure. Don’t suffer any longer! My doctor calls in scripts for me every year after my annual exam – 1 for bacterial, 2-3 for yeast infections, just to have waiting at the pharmacy for me if I ever need them and it’s a weekend or something. She is so wonderful!
Best Wishes!!!
